April 29, 2018 - Massanutten Storybook Trail and a new section of the AT

Picture of the Day

This blog chronicles the hikes I've completed in the "Lee 333 Challenge". I haven't set a challenge deadline because I can't dedicate myself 100% to it. However, if the SNAP500 (or SHEN500) can be done in one year, I don't see any reason why a dedicated enthusiast couldn't complete the "Lee 333" in under a year also.

Today's Hike:
Distance: 0.77
Duration: 0:27
Ascent: 116ft
PATC Difficulty: 13

Lee 333 Progress Summary:
Trails: 16 of 107
Trail Miles: 46.97 of 342.2 miles
Hiked Miles: 78.82 miles

This weekend, my wife and I drove down to Waynesboro VA for an overnight stay in a hotel. Saturday I got a late start on a section of the AT just south of Skyline Drive on the Blue ridge Parkway. I've hiked this section years ago but could not find any accurate records of the trip. I hope to make sever more AT hikes to extend my southern progress to the Tye River gap.

Sunday on the drive home we stopped to hike the very short Massanutten Storybook Trail together. A totally paved and flat stroll to a fantastic overlook. It was a short hike but I can now check off one more trail of the Lee333.
